Kirtan is the singing of sacred chants in a call and response format. It is a very simple and powerful way to meditate.  Kirtan practice is an effortless and joyful practice, that by-passes the mind and easily reaches the heart.  The ancient chants contain powerful renewing and transformative energy that helps us reconnect with the goodness or divinity that resides within each one.

AND STAY FOR AS LONG AS YOU NEED

The Mahamrityunjaya mantra is an ancient and very powerful mantra used to bring courage and transformation in the face of life's challenges.  It carries a resonance which facilitates healing, nurturance and relief from suffering on all levels, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.

If you know someone who is suffering or in distress, please feel free to ask for their name to be placed in our circle.

18 months ago we started the regular practice, in Christchurch, of chanting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra 108 times.  We chose to gather on the new and full moons each month. It has created the blessing of some beautiful synchronicity with other festivals which are celebrated according to the phases of the moon.

The full moon in July is the time for Guru Poornima, a time to celebrate that which gives light, inspires us.  It can be a time to honour our guru or teachers, and all which helps to enlighten our lives.

You are most welcome to join in a part or all of these evenings. Kirtan evenings usually end with herbal tea and/or chai. You are welcome to bring plant-based snacks to share with everyone.

Your koha is greatly appreciated to assist the work of the

Yoga Education in Prisons Trust.

Looking forward to our continuing connection through mantra.

Everyone welcome.

Om Shanti
