About Bonnie:
Yoga has always meant physical wellbeing for me, a way to help me sleep and to get stress relief for my tired body.
I didn’t actually notice the huge changes it made to my mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing until I found myself in demanding situations. I have recently become a mother and deepened my sense of yoga since my son, Kahu, was born. He demands, and life now constantly requires, my undivided attention. I have never been so grateful for my yoga and the leaps and bounds I have made in these ten years or so of practice.
I am especially grateful for my time spent in India where I studied the 4 month yoga course at Bihar Yoga Bharati, an ashram founded by Swami Satyananda. This has been my preparation for motherhood and the challenges I now face everyday, because the yoga I learned there and the yoga that gets me through the day is much more than backward and forward bends. It is how I use my breath, how I see my mind react, how I surrender to the higher consciousness and how I listen to my inner voice. It is also how I take care of this body and all the intricate systems that keep it running. Yoga asana and deep relaxation helps me to keep well and centered, I love to share these techniques with other mums to help them through this challenging time.
